Derrick Medlin

Derrick Medlin hails from Kernersville, North Carolina. He has always dreamed of flying. A veteran of the United States Air Force(1981-1990) his first exposure to flight simulation was in 1985. His neighbor had a Commodore 64 computer! Although, real world flight was not in his future, Microsoft has provided him with his opportunity to live his dream! In the real world, he has been with CINTAS The Service Professionals, as a Service Sales Representative for over 15 years.

His first real foray into the flight simulation world was when he purchased a $10 copy of FS2002 from the local Target store in 2007. He tinkered around with it for a while "as is" without any add-ons. After a while the default aircraft and Airline Liveries just weren't enough to satisfy his need. As, he was searching the web for more realistic aircraft to fly, he also found out that there was a whole world of online flight simulation going on.

He took his trusty copy of FS2002 and joined MetroAir in March of 2008. Since then he has logged over 350 hours in the Metro livery. "I had been flying for about 7 months, and was looking for a little more than just what plain FS could offer. As I was searching for a more fulfilling experience by flying online, I found VATSIM, and a whole list of virtual airlines to choose from. After reading webpages until my eyes were about to bleed, I found MetroAir. As I read, I found out it was 'all that and a bag of chips!' I love Metro and the community of friends I have gained during my stay here." He bought a copy of FS9 in June of 2009 to enhance his flightsiming experience.

He was promoted to Allegius hub manager in September of 2009. He served there until recent headquarters move and addition of the new Kansas City hub. "I am excited about this opportunity to move to the Midwest and help MetroAir develop a new training base here in MCI." Among other interests, Derrick is involved in his local Catholic church, working with high school youth.
